Larian Studios has always been a talented studio, but really rose to fame with Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin II. This led to them being commissioned to create Baldur’s Gate III, and the Early Access version has made it seem like we have another amazing game in store. I’m even more sure of it now.
Because Larian has announced that Baldur’s Gate III is being accelerated from August 31st to August 3rd on PC. Although this obviously means that the developers are already very happy with the game, they do not hide that this is also happening because they do not want to launch it too close to the other highly anticipated games coming in late August and September.
Unfortunately, the PlayStation 5 version cannot avoid that, because the PS5 version of Baldur’s Gate III has been postponed until September 6 because the developers need an extra week to get the game running at 60 frames per second.
They also take the opportunity to make it sound like the Xbox Series versions of Baldur’s Gate III aren’t as far behind as many feared, while throwing some shade at the Xbox Series S:
“We are optimistic about Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox Series X, but in order to announce and launch the game on Xbox, we need to ensure that the game works without compromise across the entire Xbox X|S ecosystem, in multiplayer and split-screen. We have already put a lot of work into making it work, and we will continue to do so.”
What do you think of these changes?
