Baldur’s Gate 3 Unveils Unusual Romance Options, Including a Bearish Encounter

Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian has unveiled some… unusual romance options in the upcoming fantasy RPG.

Spoilers for Baldur’s Gate 3 ahead.

One of the Baldur’s Gate 3 characters that fans have had their eyes on throughout Early Access is the druid Halsin. Khalsin is an NPC and potential companion that can be rescued from prison. But if you play your cards right, Halsin can get a lot bigger.

Literally. As a druid, Halsin can temporarily “morph” into a bear, and he does so during the romantic scene. Larian showed off the furry encounter during a live broadcast of Panel From Hell. This turned out to be too spicy for TikTok, which banned the broadcast an hour before it ended.

“TikTok banned our stream because it was too artistic and they don’t understand,” Larian publishing director Michael Daus tweeted.

In an interview with IGN, Larian boss Sven Winke called this bearish scene in Baldur’s Gate 3 “hilarious”. Everyone who has seen her says, “My God.” But it’s funny.” You can verify this for yourself by looking at the excerpt Here. At least it becomes clear why the squirrel dropped her nut in the release teaser trailer presented today.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive open world RPG from the creators of the Divinity: Original Sin series. Larian has announced that they are moving the PC version’s release date forward by a month from August 31 to August 3 to avoid clashing with Bethesda’s Starfield launching in early September. The PlayStation 5 version, meanwhile, has been slightly delayed until September 6, while the Xbox Series X and S versions remain without a release date (more on Baldur’s Gate 3’s Xbox delay here).

In an interview, Vincke said that the developers believe that a typical Baldur’s Gate 3 playthrough takes between 75 and 100 hours. However, players who want to “do it all” should look forward to doubling that number.
