Baldur’s Gate 3 was a major release by all accounts, but depending on budgets and expectations, even that release may not always live up to expectations. In this case, this does not appear to have happened.
In conversation with GamesIndustry.biz, President of Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Gaming Cynthia Williams statedthat the company is “very pleased” with the financial performance of Baldur’s Gate 3.
Larian and I are very pleased with how Baldur’s Gate 3 is performing. The term “commercial success” has many meanings, but we are happy, and so are the fans.

Hasbro’s head of digital gaming, Tim Fields, noted that Larian has some of the best RPG creators working at it, and the company would love to find more partners with such dedication to their craft.
Hasbro works primarily with established IPs like Dungeons & Dragons and Transformers. However, the company also owns the Archetype studio, which opened in early 2020.
Archetype was founded by veterans of BioWare and Naughty Dog. She is working on a multi-platform sci-fi story-driven RPG with Drew Karpyshyn as lead writer.
Hasbro can’t share details about the Archetype game yet, but it already sees potential for the IP to be developed in other formats.
We are already seeing how we can develop this IP into other formats. It is likely that it could be used to launch consumer products such as toys from Hasbro.
