Baldur’s Gate 3 is such a big game that two things are practically guaranteed. There are almost certainly things in it that people haven’t yet encountered, despite its popularity, and there are also bugs that the Larian team has not yet fixed. It’s especially funny when these two categories overlap. When something strange happens and players can’t figure out whether they’ve stumbled upon a cool new feature or a funny bug. Like when your cat gets arrested for killing a rat.
Cats killing rats is normal, even in Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s in their nature. However, it seems that one of the guards does not know about this or simply has a dislike for this particular cat. Jasondads1 shared testimonials about his cat on the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit. “I decided to force my cat to kill a rat. Apparently, the guard saw this and found it reprehensible.”
Evidence that non-human characters can be arrested – either a new bug or a new feature – is not limited to cats. Nuttmegganarchist shared a similar experience, although the crime in question was much more heinous. “As a result of a series of events that were not his fault, my elemental caused a massive explosion that killed 40+ NPCs. The guards then confronted my elemental and called a speech check, which he failed.” It’s literally just fire in the shape of a man, so it makes sense why it wouldn’t pass the speech test. I’m also not sure that the walls of this cell will be able to contain him for long.
The owner of the locked elemental added that he is playing on PS5 and has the latest update installed, which most likely means that this is indeed a bug and not a feature. If this was a feature, it would probably be included in the latest patches.
