After all, Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming out on Xbox this year.
Originally, it was revealed that Baldur’s Gate 3 would not be coming to Xbox Series X|S until next year at the earliest due to technological limitations. These limitations included the need for the game to have the same features on Xbox Series X and S, such as split-screen co-op.
However, after meeting with Xbox boss Phil Spencer, the CEO of Larian Studios Care Vinckie dice that the game will come to the platform.
Super happy to confirm that after meeting @XboxP3 yesterday, we’ve found a solution that allows us to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox players this year still, something we’ve been working towards for quite some time.

“All the improvements will be there, with split-screen co-op on Series X. Series S will not feature split-screen co-op, but will also include cross-save progression between Steam and Xbox Series.”
The game’s release date on Xbox has yet to be confirmed. If you can’t wait to play, you can get it today on PC, where it’s seen nearly 900,000 concurrent players, or pick it up for PlayStation 5 on September 6.
What do you think about Xbox making an exception to allow Baldur’s Gate 3 to launch on console with different features between Xbox Series X and S? For more on Insider Gaming, check out the latest little update on The Elder Scrolls 6.
