And the game has 174(!) hours of cinematic dialogue.
Last week we found out that Larian Studios has brought up the PC release of Baldur’s Gate 3 by almost a month, very likely not to be released at the same time as Starfield. The question, however, is whether you have time to play through Larian’s grand adventure before the Starfield release, because according to manager Swen Vincke, their fantasy role-playing game offers plenty of playing time.
In an interview with IGN he says the following about playing time:
Between 75 and 100 hours, that’s what we’ve seen. And then you don’t do everything, but it’s just a playthrough. There will be people who are much higher than that, those who want to do it all. They will probably hit 200 hours, I think. On average, we have seen that it takes people around 75 to 100 hours.
The game is also said to have 174 hours of “cinematic dialogue” (twice as long as all seasons of Game of Thrones), which gives an indication of how big the choices and ramifications the game has. Vincke also points out that it has large milestones where you move from chapter to chapter, which are natural points to take a break from the game if you feel like you want to play something else for a while and then come back.
Plus, after the credits roll, there may be reason to start over, thanks to how many classes, subclasses, races, spells and more there are to experiment with, not to mention multiplayer.
Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released on August 3rd on PC and September 6th on Playstation 5, while Xbox Series X/S will have to wait and may be subject to some compromise.
