The new Nitro RX season kicked off on Saturday at Lidenhill in England. As we have already reported, at this stage Latvian athlete Ronalds Baldiņš also went to the starting cross-country class.
Ronalds passed his first and only qualification – he was second in his race and fourth in the overall standings of ten riders. This was followed by the semi-finals, where Baldiņš was the fastest in his semi-finals, which allowed him to start in the final from the first starting line.

In the final, fighting for the second position, Ronalds had an accident with a competitor, after which Baldiņš’s buggy overturned. As the athlete later admitted, after the accident he was taken to the hospital for tests because the athlete injured his arm in the accident. ” Currently the mechanics are trying to fix the buggy for Sunday, but in the meantime I’m resting my hand to go to battle on Sunday. We will not give up, we will do our best to continue the fight on Sunday, ” Ronald said. The victory in the repeated start was won by Pasi Pentinen, who is the leader after the first race with 61 points. Baldiņš is the seventh with 41 points.

The new electric Group E class is making its debut this year, where several well-known rallycross riders have started. 1 on 1 duel was played on Saturday, where Robins Larsons and Chris Mike fought until the final. Larson defeated Nicholas Gronholm, Oliver Eriksson and Andreas Bakerud in a 1-on-1 battle, while Mike, who started in the second round, was superior to teammates Oliver Bennett and Trevis Pastran. Larsons won the 1 to 1 final because Mike’s car had technical problems. The semi-finals, the last chance race and the final will take place on Sunday.
