In Vlaardingen, two people were seriously injured when a balcony they were standing on collapsed.
According to the safety region, the accident happened around 1.30 pm at a house on Binnensingel. “It’s a house from the 1920s or 1930s,” a spokesperson said. “It was a relatively small balcony that hung about 2.5 meters high.”
It is still unclear what the condition of the victims is now. “They were rushed to the hospital by trauma helicopter,” the spokesperson for the security region told the regional channel Rijnmond.
City inspectors are currently investigating the construction of the balconies of other homes to verify that they are safe.
