“Balcia becomes the first insurance company in Latvia to offer electric motorcycle insurance and exchange vehicles”

The insurance technology company “Balcia” has concluded a cooperation agreement with the representative of “Energica” brand motorcycles in Latvia, “Energica Latvia”, becoming the first insurance company in Latvia that offers electric motorcycle insurance and provides “Energica” motorcycles as an exchange vehicle for KASKO customers.

In Latvia, environmental pollution caused by road transport continues to increase, and approximately 83% of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) are caused by specifically private vehicles. “Balcia” is committed to promoting the availability of more environmentally friendly vehicles, supporting the development of innovations and being closer to achieving climate goals. Cooperation with the world’s leading distributor of electric motorcycles “Energica Latvia” is a purposeful step to encourage Latvian residents to choose “greener” vehicles, supporting the sustainable development of the urban environment.

It is a myth that insurers are wary of insuring electric vehicles. We are ready to take on the risk associated with the compensation of the repair costs of these vehicles, because we believe that insurance should not be an obstacle to the desire of citizens to change their internal combustion vehicle to a more environmentally friendly vehicle. All the more, we want to give our customers the opportunity to try electric motorcycles, therefore, in cooperation with “Energica Latvia”, we will offer our customers to choose an “Energica” motorcycle as an exchange vehicle.

The battery can be charged in less than 40 minutes, which, combined with the driving distance of 200-400 km, makes it a convenient everyday vehicle.

At the beginning of this year, “Balcia” also concluded an agreement with “Tesla” electric car sharing platform “OX Drive”, giving KASKO insurance customers the opportunity to choose an electric car of this brand as a trade-in car.
