Balázs Orbán: the essence of “Hungary’s grand strategy” is to ensure peace and development at the same time as protecting the country (video)

At the event, Balázs Orbán spoke to the lawyer András Schiffer, one of the founders of Lehet Más a Politika (LMP), a former member of parliament, about Hungary’s strategic issues and the most important in the country.

As he explained, it is worth explaining the “grand strategy of Hungary” based on four points.

According to him, the first and one of the most important things is what is the world around the country like? The Hungarians have to travel on a supportive path – as in the time of Saint Stephen – or even – as it is now – on a bumpy road. He said: in today’s Europe, general attacks against Christian culture and traditions represent a problem in achieving Hungary’s national goals, so it is necessary to defend against all attacks as that.

Along with this, he said, the country must be modernized – not ideologically, but technologically – and this program must be maintained.

Sovereignty is the third important node, because – as he believed – those groups of power that can preserve their sovereignty in terms of economy, foreign policy, finance and energy supply can become stronger.

The fourth question is about connections, ie it has to be answered which energy will make Hungary a developed country rather than a more developed country. According to Balázs Orbán, Hungary must build relationships in all areas and in many directions to achieve its own national goals, as the blockade closes the connections.

András Schiffer believed that Hungarians have no problem with Western civilization, because in his opinion it means antiquity and Christian culture. On the other hand, in his opinion, the Americanization that is imposed on Europe is really a threat to all this, and it is worth speaking against it.

In connection with renewal, he drew attention: “it does not follow well that we bow before the fetish of science and technology”, according to him, we must therefore fight against “anger the renewal”. The former LMP politician also criticized the topic of digital citizenship, fearing that the current governments could make it mandatory in the future, so that people’s data could even be in the wrong hands.

According to Balázs Orbán, innovation and modernity must be separated, and the attack of the latter is appropriate for him, because he “denies front or nature. In his opinion, modernization, on the other hand, is about continuous improvement and improving the quality of people’s lives. Therefore, according to him, Hungary cannot help saying no to the most advanced technologies in the West.

In terms of jurisdiction, András Schiffer believed that the main question of jurisdiction in Hungary is whether it has competitive breeding capabilities. According to him, since the country was removed from a large part of these during the regime change, the Hungarian economy is still suffering and the country has been vulnerable to global supply chains.
