How did you find the balance between historical facts and creativity in the second season of Julia, especially with regard to Julia Child’s personal experience?
D. Goldfarb: As with the first season of the series, we did a lot of research into her life ourselves, as well as reading the information that was available about Julia. When creating the script for the series, we remain faithful to Julia’s biography. However, the audience must understand that we are portraying Julia’s life in slow motion, so it is often our task to read what is written between the lines, because only in this way we can explore the inner and private world of Julia in the series as it is described in the books. That’s why we always say that we, the creators of the series and all the writers, are creating a fable about Julia Child – we have put a lot of work into doing research, and all we want is to tell the audience the truth about her. But at the same time, we also want to reveal the truth about Julia’s inner world, which may not coincide with the facts of her biography or dates related to the events of her life. Our intention in every detail is to treat the life of the famous chef with respect.
