Can you succeed in both your relationship and your career? How can you achieve fulfillment in your professional life, while assuming your essential private responsibilities, starting with your family commitments?
This is the question many dual-income couples face today.
Until two centuries ago, spouses carried out their activities side by side. Today, everyone works independently and spends most of their days away from the person who shares their life. Furthermore, the couple is also weakened by an economic system which prefers autonomous individuals who produce, consume and depend on them. In this context, there is therefore, for each couple, a choice to make, a new equality to build, free, singular and creative, so that work, paid or not, becomes a whole at their service.
From now on, to support this “emancipation for two”, we can change the world of work and even transform society, in order to make life easier for couples and build new balances. In the light of original expertise in gender equality, Antoine de Gabrielli offers us avenues for reflection and action to make the couple’s unit, the first building block of all social solidarity, more resilient.
