balance, two years of vaccine

On Tuesday, 27, two years have passed since the start of vaccination against COVID-19. Today the Minister of Health took stock of this process which, “undoubtedly, meant a before and after in the fight against the coronavirus”.

From the beginning and until last December 26, a total of 164,573 doses of the 203,310 received were administered. Thanks to this, 65,864 people of Ceuta have the complete regimen, which represents 76.6% of the total population and 90% of those over the age of 12.

As regards coverage by age group, the percentages speak for themselves: 85% of over-80s; 89% between 70 and 79 years old; 92% from 60 to 69 years old and 92% also in the 50 to 59 age group. As regards the range of citizens with a complete orientation between 40 and 49 years, the percentage reaches 91%, 83% for young people between 30 and 39 years; 85% for twenty-somethings and 102% among teenagers.

In addition to this, and as you will remember, the vaccination campaign for children under 12 also began on 15 December 2021. As a result of this process, 2,279 children aged 5 to 11 already have the complete guideline.

As regards the administration of the first memory dose, the so-called third dose, Ceuta has maintained percentages similar to the national averages, a circumstance which, unfortunately, has not been repeated in the campaign in which we are currently immersed. , which officially started on September 26 and is being developed in the offices of the Ministry of Health in the old Military Hospital, where the device works from Monday to Friday in the morning by appointment and without an appointment.

So far, more than 2,900 people over the age of 60 have received a second booster dose. 30% in those over 80, 22% in the 70-79 age group and only 14% between 60 and 69 years old.

Healthcare takes the opportunity to call to continue vaccinating the most vulnerable people with a second memory dose. “The vaccine has proven to be the most effective weapon to combat the effects of the pandemic and it is necessary to continue to protect ourselves and save lives”.
