The Italian city cannot guarantee that the renovation of San Siro will be completely finished in the spring of 2027 and therefore lost the organization. UEFA subsequently received the applications of the Baku Olympic Stadium and the Estadio Metropolitano of Atlético Madrid as alternatives.

With Cardiff (Principality Stadium), Barcelona (Camp Nou), Warsaw (Kazimierz Gorski National Stadium) and Basel (St Jakob Park) there are four candidates. Cities can submit their candidacy until March next year. The decision will be made in May 2025.
The men’s Champions League finals will take place in Munich (2025) and Budapest (2026) in the coming years. For women, the final battle is in Lisbon (2025) and Oslo (2026).
