Baking with rain in Europe, but summer weather is gaining ground | Inland

Especially in Central and Eastern Europe, things are still going wild: the rain is pouring down from the sky, resulting in flooding. In the west and south it is a lot drier and sunnier. “Gradually, this calm summer weather is gaining ground and the temperature is rising. In London and Paris it can even reach 30 degrees!”, reports meteorologist Jaco van Wezel. Next week holidaymakers can count on sunny and pleasant weather of between 25-30 degrees.

Until then, the European weather picture is ‘downright changeable’ with numerous showers and thunderstorms. “Especially in hilly and mountainous areas such as the Black Forest, the Eifel, the Alps or the Dolomites, the excessive rainfall can cause major problems. The water flows to the lowest point in the landscape and can cause a significant rise in the water level there in a short time. Lakes, streams and rivers can therefore burst their banks.”

Campers with a spot along the water should therefore be extra alert in the coming days and move their tent, camper or caravan to a higher and drier spot if the water starts to rise, the weatherman warns. Due to the clouds and rain, it will not be warmer than 20-25 degrees in many places.

Berlin

Van Wezel: “During and after the weekend, the center of gravity of the volatility seems to gradually shift towards the east of Europe. In large parts of Germany it is more often dry with more room for the sun. The temperature rises to 25 degrees in Munich to almost 30 degrees in Berlin. In Switzerland and Austria there is still a chance of some heavy showers and it will be about 20 degrees.”

In the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Croatia it is often dry at first, but during the weekend this region has to deal with change. Heavy showers regularly pass over, causing flooding and flooding here too. With 25-30 degrees and high humidity it feels stuffy.

Calmer weather can be found in the west and far south of Europe. From Great Britain to Gibraltar there is an area with dry and fairly sunny weather. We also find this weather in the south of Italy and on the Greek islands. Parts of France remain sensitive to clouds, but it is full summer on the Côte d’Azur. In Marseille, the temperature rises towards 30 degrees and the sun shines exuberantly.

“The summer heat is initially limited to the Mediterranean with maximum temperatures of 25-30 degrees in Portugal, Italy and the south of France. In Spain and Greece, the mercury even reaches 40 degrees regionally! As the calm summer weather continues, the temperature in Western Europe will also rise and in London and Paris it can reach 30 degrees,” the meteorologist reports.
