Bakery company sits on a quarter of a million stollen, but there is a plan
–
Because of the cancellation of the Christmas markets, the Emil Reimann bakery has a quarter of a million stollen left over. What to do with the rest of the Christmas cookies?
Dresden – Dismantling the stalls, repacking the stollen – the cancellation of the Christmas markets in Dresden, Leipzig and in the Stuttgart area presents the bakery company “Emil Reimann” (65 branches in Saxony) with a major challenge. A quarter of a million tunnels alone are returned to the warehouse in Dresden and nuts.
–
“We bake around 3.5 million stollen every season in Dresden,” says plant manager Dirk Einert (54). “So far, we have been affected by the closure of eight Christmas markets. Only our Frankfurt am Main location is open.
For us that means: dismantling huts and distributing 250,000 tunnels. It’s not easy, because our bakery branches have their shelves full, “says Einert.
“Of course we have expanded our online shop and even staffed it in a three-shift system. We are expecting well over 30,000 parcels to be sent in the three-month winter season.”

Nevertheless: The slump in sales at Christmas markets and the absence of tourists cannot be compensated by this.
In addition, the Dresdner Stollen, of which the company bakes over 20 delicious varieties, is a perishable food with a minimum shelf life of six months.

That is why “Emil Reimann” is boosting factory sales for the traditional Saxon pastries.
At the production site on Marie-Curie-Strasse, the Stollen is ten percent cheaper than in the store – Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. “We also invite you to two special sales days, tomorrow and December 11th.
Then there is even a discount of up to 50 percent on selected Christmas cookies, “lures Einert.
