Bake the Whole Country: Viewers Disappointed with Bland Competition and Impractical Recipes

The second competition evening of the program Bakes the whole country is behind us. Unfortunately, even this part did not change the opinion of the viewers. They complain not only about the boringness of the competition, but also about the impractical and uninteresting recipes that appear in the show.

Bake now! This is exactly the instruction given by the moderators to the contestants who have decided to fight for the title of the best baker in the Czech Republic. The beginning of the culinary show was watched by 1.13 million viewers aged 15+ and another 80 thousand children. According to the Czech Television press release, it was the most watched first episode compared to the previous two series. The popular baker’s race was watched mainly by women and children, the greatest interest prevailed in the region of northeastern and eastern Bohemia.

However, they were eliminated in the first round, which some viewers did not like. They mainly complained about the fast course of the competition and the somewhat chaotic presentation, so everyone firmly believed that everything would change with the second part. However, this did not happen, and the criticism of the pastry show continues. What bothers the viewers now and who was eliminated from the competition after the second exciting evening?

Salt cakes are baked the most

The opening episode of the third series of the competition last Saturday began with a personal challenge, in which the contestants had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in the preparation of sweet sandwiches. While some of the creations were impressive enough to merit a place in the gallery, others didn’t quite make the cut. The salty challenge wasn’t much better.

And the contestants also focused on savory cakes and pies in the second part of the competition, which bothered some viewers who commented on the show on social networks. They complained that the confectionery show should be mainly about sweet cakes and desserts, which have hardly appeared at all so far. Instead, contestants baked savory cakes with ingredients such as carrots or onions.

Criticism of the jury and moderators

And the moderators, who, according to some, cannot make the show fun and light-hearted, have also come under fire from critics. “The third season of Pecha the whole country disappointed me. The recipes in yesterday’s episode were bluffs that made my stomach turn. Who makes this up? This is not a Czech taste at all! None of the contestants stand out as outstanding talent either, they keep choosing the same types,” read one of the comments.

Some even focused on the appearance of the contestants. “I hate their hair… they keep throwing it behind their ears and then hurray with their hands in the dough,” wrote one of the viewers. “Pastry chefs should have their hair in a ponytail, modern,” added others, who agree that a proper pastry chef should adhere to appropriate dress standards. She left Martina in the second part of the show.
