Belgrade: Indian Olympian Bajrang Punia lost in the wrestling world championship in Serbia. Bajrang Punia, an Olympic bronze medalist and two-time Commonwealth Games champion, lost 65 kg in the quarter-finals of the category. Bajrang was beaten by the American Yianni Diacomihalis. The United States has a technical advantage (10-0). The star has overtaken Bajrang. Bajrang won three medals in the World Championship.
If Yianni makes it to the final, the Indian athlete will have a chance to compete in the repechage round and win the bronze. Yiani is a two-time winner of the cadet world championship.
Bajrang reached the quarterfinals after defeating Cuban Alejandro Entiqua Valdez Tobias. 18-year-old Sagar Jaglan opened the fight for the bronze by defeating Mongolian Suldhuku Olonbayar.
