Hammarby winger Vladimir Rodic, 28, is listed this year for a goal of 21 appearances in the Allsvenskan. Now it is clear that there will be no more matches this year – the player has said goodbye to his teammates in the Stockholm team, writes Aftonbladet. The reason is that Rodic’s contract expired yesterday, November 30, before the end of the season.
Rodic recently received a contract proposal to play with Bajen over the last match against Kalmar FF at home on Saturday, but chose to say no to it.
Rodic thus says that his time in Hammarby is over for this time.
– My contract expired yesterday. I have talked to Jesper (Jansson) a bit about what would happen and he submitted a proposal to me. But it was not… I do not want to sound unpleasant, but it did not look like it should do in my opinion. Today I was at Årsta and said hello to the guys and the leaders, he says to Aftonbladet.
Rodic further tells, for Aftonbladet, that he thinks it is sad to have to leave Hammarby, but that he is also happy to have belonged to the Stockholm club, which he also this year also led to cup gold.
However, he believes that the contract situation should have been resolved earlier.
– We did not talk about anything other than that it would apply for the rest of the year. But the proposal I received was not as I had imagined. We did not talk about it until a few days ago and it is quite late to discuss such things. We should have taken care of it a little earlier.
Sports director Jesper Jansson, in turn, explains Aftonbladet, that Rodic’s contract was written three years ago, when the Allsvenskan ended in November. With the pandemic, the rules of the game have changed and the season has been extended. Jansson also believes that there are more players who have extended their contracts to be able to participate in the last match.
Jansson thus thinks it is sad that Rodic is not at the end of the season.
– I think it’s a shame that he is not with the last match and takes the offer he received. So he can get a proper thank you from the audience. But he will be thanked in any case. It’s a shame it turned out this way, but it was a free choice.
According to Expressen Kalmar FF has offered Rodic a contract. SThe target national team is said to want Rodic as a key player for next season, but the player is also said to have other options on the table. Rodic previously also has a background with games in Malmö FF in Sweden.
