The application of the influenza vaccine in the state has advanced approximately 20% of the 800 thousand doses that the state intends to supply this 2023-24 winter season, reported Adrián Medina Amarillas, head of the Baja California Health Secretariat.
He mentioned that the response of Baja Californians has been positive in these first weeks of the vaccination campaign and is a reflection of the “sensitivity and awareness” that the pandemic left about the importance of getting vaccinated.
“Three weeks after we started applying influenza, we have already exceeded the 180,000 vaccines that we have been able to apply intersectorally,” Medina Amarillas specified.
Regarding vaccination against COVID-19, the head of the Ministry of Health reported that around 40 thousand doses have been applied at the state level.
He clarified that the number of vaccines against COVID-19 is lower compared to Influenza, because it is aimed at a smaller population group, specifically for people over 60 years of age or with some comorbidity.

Medina Amarillas added that having started this winter vaccination campaign early, starting in the last week of October, will help people get the dose before the cold season arrives.
“A very intense winter is anticipated, so that there is already protection, there is already immunity, so that we do not have complications if we get influenza,” he added.
