Baja California wine will have a historical boost: Marina del Pilar

On the last day of his work tour by California, United States, the governor-elect of Baja California, Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, visited the napa county, known to be a region of high wine production, where he endorsed his commitment to consolidate the wine of Baja California on the world map, through a historical support and incentives, also taking care of the winemaking vocation of the valleys of Baja California through a protection scheme for their natural vocation.

In turn, he stressed that there will be coordination with the Napa Wine Country, achieving that this twinning empowers this area with the leadership it deserves.

Along with representative figures of Mexican wine, such as Hans Backoff, president of the Mexican Wine Council; Santiago Cosio, president of Provino and Victor Segura, president of the State Council of Vine Producers of Baja California; the governor-elect, Marina del Pilar made a meeting with Alfredo Pedroza, Napa County District 4 Supervisor, and representatives from various Napa Valley vineyards. During the Meeting there was also the presence of Bill Dodd and Ben Bone, California Senators; as well as the CEO from Visit Napa, Lindsay Gallagher and the Napa Wine Growers Representative, Delia Viader.

Marina del Pilar promoted the National Assembly of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) 2022, to be held in November on Ensenada, municipality where the Guadalupe Valley, main winery center of Baja California.

The governor-elect of Baja California held fruitful meetings with the most representative wine-growing leaders of Sonoma y Napa, California, to share ideas and establish coordination ties for future projects where the wine sector of the state of Baja California be strengthened.

Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda expressed that during his administration the best environmental practices and the use of water to improve the quality of the wine, have complete certainty regarding the constitution of the product and place the result of the vine at the forefront within the international competitiveness.

It also pointed out that strengthen relations between the Government of Baja California and local winemakers, so that they have full support for the development of their projects and can continue to be a economic source that places the state on the international public agenda of said industry.

Finally, Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda delivered a message to him Mexican American Vintners Association (MAVA) o la Mexican American Wine Growers Association, where he expressed the importance of generating mutual support from both sides of the border, so that binational production and trade acquire the global leadership they deserve.
