La Paz, Baja California Sur. Has your account been hacked? The company Avast, dedicated to computer security, disclosed the vulnerability that the states of the republic have in hacking attacks and highlighted that Baja California Sur is the second most vulnerable entity in the country.
According to study figures, at the national level, business users have an average of 23% of encountering cyber threats, however, in Baja California Sur the percentage increases to 33.21%; the world average is 15.10%.
Only Aguascalientes was more vulnerable (33.86%) to this type of attacks. Below the entity are Zacatecas (30.7%), Puebla (29.19%) and Tamaulipas (29.13%).
On the other hand, those with fewer threats are Nayarit (17.47%), Durango (19.05%), Guerrero (20.42%) and Coahuila (22.42%). The report notes that within the country, the interest rate of hackers has increased.
During the first quarter of 2022, it was detected that, in Mexico, the chances of encountering a ransomware attack increased by 120%, compared to the same period in 2021. These attacks are characterized by focusing mainly on companies.
How to deal with hacking?
Small and medium-sized businesses are more vulnerable to ransomware, however, large companies are not exempt either. One of the most common operations of hackers is that, from malicious software, they install mining programs and cryptocurrencies as a simultaneous attack.
Some recommendations to protect yourself from cyber attacks, provided by Avast are: keep collaborators and users informed about cyber risks, train users to identify potential fraud and constantly update the systems and software used by companies.
