If it meets the requirements and guidelines, any private establishment can begin the sale of Covid-19 vaccines, indicated the Secretary of Health of Baja California, Adrián Medina Amarillas.
He pointed out that in the state there are two establishments that already have the biological one; Farmacias del Ahorro and the private center “Vakúnate”, which will be monitored by state authorities to ensure that they comply with the guidelines.
“We are through Coepris [Comisión Estatal para la Protección contra Riesgos Sanitarios] By closely monitoring the way they are handling the vaccine, the way the vaccine is also processed, we want to prevent there from being vaccines that are not of legal origin.”
Medina Amarillas pointed out that a health license is required for the sale of the vaccine, and that it will also be monitored that the vaccines are properly preserved, that they are administered by a trained person and, above all, that a doctor has indicated the vaccination.
So far, only the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have permission from the Federal Commission for the Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris) for sale in Mexico.
“It is not that a person arrives at the place where it is sold and says give me the vaccine, no, there has to be an evaluation to see that the person does not have any risk when receiving the biological, and that it is in the best way”
For its part, the Baja California Health Secretariat continues with the application of the Covid-19 vaccine free of charge for older adults, pregnant women, first responders and people with comorbidities, in this case only with the Abdala vaccine.
According to the latest report given by Medina Amarillas, the state continues with a low trend in terms of Covid-19 cases, with only three cases in the last two weeks, no deaths and two people hospitalized.
