The Baja California Congress approved free breast reconstruction treatment, within the basic health services, so it is now a right of women who survive breast cancer.

Women may undergo reconstructive surgery after having undergone a mastectomy due to this condition and who lack the necessary resources to perform it in a private hospital.

In the reform of Articles 19 and 50 of the Public Health Law for the State of Baja California, it was stipulated that this treatment will include the necessary prosthesis and timely psychological care.

“The right to life and health must be above any monetary cost when it comes to aggressive diseases,” said Deputy Claudia Agatón.

This initiative, presented by deputies Montserrat Caballero Ramírez and Elí Topete Robles, also involves the creation of health programs and campaigns aimed at the prevention and early detection of breast cancer.

“Implementing actions and programs with the intention of prevention and early detection of this disease are absolutely necessary in order to provide a better quality of life to our citizens,” said the president of the Political Coordination Board and the Commission of Cheers, Montserrat Caballero.
