Baja California approves applying a 1.5% service tax to Uber and Didi
The Congress of Baja California (Mexico), has approved the application of a 1.5% tax for the total amount of each service to transport companies that use digital platforms, such as Uber and Didi.
Although at first the possibility of applying it also to food delivery companies was considered, for now these companies will be exempt from payment and will only apply to those that carry out passenger transport.
According to the State Congress, the tax must be paid by the companies and not by those who hire or use this service.
It was also explained that the purpose of this measure is that the companies registered in the entity, contribute formally with the contributions that by law correspond.
