Bailiff threatens 2,000 business owners who don’t pay back the crown’s support NOW

The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) is struggling to recover unfairly paid corona support. About two thousand entrepreneurs do not respond to e-mails, letters or phone calls. The RVO transfers the receivables, so that the Central Judicial Collection Agency (CJIB) can still collect the outstanding amounts.

During the crown crisis, the RVO was responsible for paying the Fixed Charges Allowance (TVL). The entrepreneurs who lost a lot of turnover due to the lockdown were reimbursed part of the fixed costs by the government.

Of the 420,000 companies that have received this financial aid, about 55,000 have to repay. Their actual loss of revenue was less than expected.

The RVO understands that it can be very difficult for entrepreneurs to repay the krona’s support during this time of high inflation, rising energy prices and low purchasing power. This is why business owners can make a payment arrangement. But also for this the agency has to get in touch with them.

If, after six attempts, it has still not been possible to contact the entrepreneur, the RVO sees no other option than to call the CJIB.
