By 2025, we could see new homes being built. It should be remembered that the vacancy rate in the city of Baie-Comeau reached 0.5% last year, according to the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

The new dwellings could be townhouses, apartment blocks, not to mention the creation of new residential areas.

There would be, among other things, a developer ready to build new college residences in downtown Plateau.

The city would also discuss with a contractor for a new hotel project in front of the CLSC Lionel-Charest, with a restaurant and lofts for workers in transit.

Eight new residential areas would also be created including, among others, a portion along avenue des Hémérocalles, the Trudel field, the back of Napoléon-Paul-Otis park, part of boulevard LaSalle and the site of the former McCormick school. .

Last year, the city of Baie-Comeau had commissioned a study to know the exact portrait of its housing stock. The Altus firm revealed that there was currently a shortage of between 280 and 600 housing units on municipal territory.
