Chinese BAIC will launch Russian sales of the new BJ60 frame SUV in the first quarter of 2024. A representative of the brand’s press service told an Autonews.ru correspondent about this. Prices for the model are not yet known. On the Russian market, the new product will replace the Kia Mohave and Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Among the main competitors of the SUV are the Tank 500 and the Haval H9.
The car is equipped with an unusual radiator grille with vertical slats and luminous U-shaped sections. The car was also equipped with LED optics, 20-inch wheels, a panoramic roof, an embossed hood and roof rails.
In the local market, the Beijing BJ60 is available in two- or three-row seating options. The SUV’s interior features a digital instrument panel, a head-up display and a 12.8-inch media system display.
In China, the model is sold with both a gasoline engine and a light hybrid installation with a starter-generator. However, in Russia, apparently, the basic version with a two-liter turbo engine with 266 hp will be presented. and 406 Nm of torque and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Drive – full. Prices for such a car in China start from 239,800 yuan (3 million rubles).
Also, not so long ago the car received a new two-liter diesel engine with 163 hp. The transmission is an eight-speed automatic. It is possible that such a modification of the car will reach the Russian market.
In Russia, Chinese BAIC cars are produced at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad. The latest new product to hit the production line was the X7 crossover. By the end of the year, the company promises to master the production of seven BAIC models. In the domestic market, the mid-size crossover will be sold with an uncontested 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine producing 180 hp. and 270 Nm of torque. The engine works in conjunction with a seven-speed “robot”. Drive is front-wheel drive.
