Bahrain won the fourth match of the Gulf Twenty20 International (T20I) Cricket Championship. Bahrain defeated Oman by one run in the match played at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha.
Oman, who won the toss and elected to bowl, bowled out Bahrain for 123 for seven wickets. However, Oman, who batted in reply, could only score 122 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs. Apart from Kashyap Prajapati (49) and Ayan Khan (21), none of the others could contribute significantly in the Oman line-up.
Oman needed 11 runs to win with three wickets in hand in the last over bowled by Sathiah Weerapathiran. Naseem Kushith gave hope of victory by hitting a six in the first ball but was dismissed in the next ball. Later, Veerapathiran, who threw the ball strictly, conceded a total of ten runs and gave Bahrain a great victory.
The performances of Imran Ali (44) and Haider Butt (20) gave Bahrain a fightable score. Bahrain is currently fourth in the six-team table with four points. After losing the first two matches, Bahrain won the last match.
Bahrain’s final match is against the United Arab Emirates on Friday. UAE lead the table with six points from three consecutive wins. Bahrain need to win that game if they want to keep their finals hopes alive.
