Bahrain Red Crescent Society Organizes ‘Psychological First Aid’ Training Workshop to Build Community’s Capabilities in Crisis Response

The Bahrain Red Crescent Society organized a training workshop entitled “Psychological First Aid,” in which trainer Maysar Sabri Awadallah and Dr. Zainab Anwar Yousef lectured, with the aim of building the capabilities of health care providers and members of the local community to provide psychological care before, during and after crises and disasters, on the sidelines of the association’s participation. At the “First Bahraini Psychiatry Conference,” which was held from October 12 to 13 at the Gulf Hotel Conference Center.

The training was attended by 24 participants from various specializations in mental health, family counseling and related fields. The workshop included presenting psychological first aid skills (look, listen, connect) and psychological first aid values ​​(safety, dignity, rights) in an interactive way with the audience through practical activities. in groups.

The participants praised the valuable scientific content presented by the workshop, as the comparison between the average results of the participants in the test before the workshop was an average of 64%, while the average results of the test after the workshop was 92%. The participants also recommended the necessity and importance of holding similar training courses in mental health because of its impact. Positive on how to provide psychological care properly to everyone who needs it at home and in the community.
