It was decided to move the Bahrain-Oman match in the semi-finals of the “Gulf 25” in football, to the Olympic Port Stadium, instead of the Basra International Stadium, for reasons related to the sustainability and vitality of the Basra International Stadium.
Two semi-final matches of the “Gulf 25” will be held on Monday. The first brings together Iraq, the leader of Group A, and Qatar, the runner-up of Group Two, while the Bahrain national team, the leader of Group Two, and its Omani counterpart, the second of Group One, will meet in the second match that was transferred to Al Mina Stadium.
The administrative official at Basra International Stadium, Lutfi Abboud, stated: The second match in the semi-finals was moved to Al-Mina Stadium, in order to preserve the vitality of the Basra International Stadium, which is supposed to not exceed football matches for 8 hours on its floor per week.
The floor of the Basra International Stadium was greatly affected during the Iraq-Saudi Arabia match in the second round of the group stage of the first group competitions, which ended for Iraq with two clean goals, due to the heavy rain that fell on the city of Basra for 24 continuous hours.
