Bahlil’s statement about changing the chairman of the MPR is not good

Floor leader NasDem DPR Viktor Laiskodat confirmed that the General Secretary of the Party Gerindra Ahmad Muzani was appointed as the Chairman of the MPR according to the mechanism regulated in the MPR Regulation No. 1 of 2024.

He said the statement by the General Chairman of Golkar Bahlil Lahadalia who said Muzani’s seat as an ‘exchange’ for the Golkar minister’s seat was not good. This could upset the government coalition.

“This kind of statement could disturb the cohesion and stability of the coalition, which should not be good for the general chairman of the coalition member parties,” Viktor said in a written statement, Thursday (24/10).

Viktor explained that the selection of Ahmad Muzani was based on deliberation and consensus. This provision is in Article 19 Paragraphs (1) to (11) of Regulation MPR 1/2024.

“MPR Rule No. 1 of 2024 states that the election of the Chairman of the MPR is done by deliberation and consensus or by voting by all members of the MPR, and the person who receives the majority of votes on being nominated as Chairman of the MPR in the plenary session,” he said.

He also emphasized that the members of the coalition party that supports the government should maintain unity so that the program of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka would be successful.

“Cohesion, cooperation and stability are the keys to the coalition in achieving the vision and mission of the Prabowo-Gran government for the next five years,” he said.

Before that, Bahlil revealed the story of the ‘exchange’ behind his party’s eight seats in the Red and White Cabinet appointed by President Prabowo Subianto.

According to Bahlil, the number of ministerial seats has increased to eight, from only five for Golkar previously. According to him, the three additional seats were obtained after Golkar gave the seat of MPR President to the Gerindra Party as the winner of the 2024 presidential election.

“At that time, it was agreed to give the MPR to our friendly party that won the presidential election. We cannot oppose the president, sir, if we oppose the president sit, it’s a problem,” said Bahlil in his speech at the office. Golkar’s 60th anniversary, Monday (21/10).
