Minister Investation/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia said Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) had canceled its acquisition of the company electric car German origin.
This is because a state-owned company from Singapore has already acquired the German electric car company.
“Singapore SOEs bought it and the option is no longer given to us, dear,” said Bahlil to the media in Jakarta, Friday (7/1).
According to Bahlil, an electric car company from Germany has pretty good quality. No doubt, Singapore’s SOEs are interested in taking over the company.
“I know that it has been acquired by a Singaporean SOE, check it out, it’s a good item, we say it’s a loss, what’s wrong, we haven’t worked yet, we already say it’s a loss,” said Bahlil.
He dismissed the issue of price inflating mode, aka mark-up, in IBC’s plan to acquire the German electric car company.
“Some say that this is a mark-up, what is the mark-up, the proof is that the purchase is transparent,” said Bahlil.
Bahlil actually regretted a number of parties who were skeptical and suspicious of IBC’s plan to acquire an electric car company from Germany.
Just a reminder, IBC is said to be buying an electric car company from Germany. However, the plan received a lot of criticism, one of which was from the President Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero) Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok.
According to him, IBC should cooperate with other parties who can help Indonesia develop its own electric car. Moreover, Indonesia has the raw materials to make electric batteries which also have an important role in the electric car industry going forward.
In addition, Indonesia also has an advantage in terms of a market that is estimated at 170 million people. Ahok believes that IBC’s business will run more smoothly if it cooperates with parties who want to build electric car factories in the country.
“I asked why not invite Wuling to cooperate, which is already in Karawang? Invite Hyundai to cooperate? Yes, yes. Then you have to use Krakatau Steel plate iron, that makes a good plate,” Ahok said.
