Zahari Baharov and Marian Valev-Kukata will whirl them up so soon that the world will turn on you. The actors will soon stand side by side in the new cult crime series on BNT, Monitor writes.
Relying on this fraternal bond, the sequel to Serbia’s most successful film in the last two decades, South Wind, this time turns the stakes and pitts actors Zahari Baharov and Marian Valev against each other.
“Acceleration”, under the title of the second film title in the series, will make its Bulgarian premiere relatively late (from February 4). The film has already hit screens in countries such as Serbia and Croatia. And even before the landing on our territory, he is already reaping greater success than his predecessor.
The World Boxing Office “Acceleration” has collected revenues of 2,561,775 dollars, according to a report by “Monitor” in the portal Box Office Mojo. The amount is over 196 thousand dollars more than the total world box office of the first “South Wind” (2018).
In the years between the two films, the director and conceptual engine of the whole project – Milos Avramovic, managed to lay the foundations for a series of the same name. His first season has already aired, and new episodes are coming out. The events in “Acceleration” take the baton from the first series and set the tone for the next ones.
The script of the premiere film positions the well-known shot of the Belgrade car mafia Petar Maras (Milos Bikovic) at the epicenter of an important rescue operation. Together with his right hand – Bacho (Miodrag Radonic), they follow in the footsteps of the temptations of the underground younger brother Maras – Nenad (Luka Garbic). And on the way they will have to face the Bulgarian mafia again.
And in “Acceleration” Avramovich successfully implements a story line related to our country. This brought him success with the first film, where Hristo Shopov and Ivaylo Zahariev signed with participation. Alexander Sano joined the cast, and Baharov, Valev, Asen Blatechki, Mak Marinov and Rusi Chanev appeared on the screen.
Dimitar (Shopov’s) shadow continues to hang over the mafia on both sides of the Serbian-Bulgarian border and in “Acceleration”. Although he dies, he is the spirit that continues to haunt Big Brother Marash. And along the way he takes with him many indirect victims.
Baharov (Kiril) and Valev (Chavdar) are located among the various branches of the Bulgarian underground. And while one of them will want to step into Dimitar’s shoes, the other will join forces with the Serbs.
In “Acceleration” Bakharov is cold, still cruel, as viewers – both here and in our western neighbor – remember him from “Undercover”. Valev, whom fans still call Kukata for short, plays a great role as a “brotherly” leader of his criminal group.
The whole Bulgarian presence actually gives extra weight to “South Wind 2”, and it seems that some of our current stars may return for the next productions of the franchise.
Meanwhile, filming for the second season of the series will begin in just a few months. The shocking events and the open finale of “Acceleration” will keep viewers in constant tension. The valve will click in the spring, and additional information about the project will be announced at a later stage.
