Unexpected discovery this weekend in Bagneux. Saturday evening, BAC Nuit police officers seized nearly 33 kg of nitrous oxide hidden in a car.
It was around 8 p.m. when police officers decided to check a motorist guilty of a traffic offense near the Pont des Suisses. But very quickly, the offense in question becomes secondary. Inside the vehicle, the police saw a stock of colored balloons clearly intended to hold cartridges of nitrous oxide, better known as laughing gas.
Suspicions quickly confirmed by a complete search of the Renault Clio. “In the passenger compartment, the police discovered more than 200 balloons and 50 bottles of nitrous oxide,” specify a police source.
The driver of the Renault Clio, aged 19, was immediately arrested before being placed in police custody at the Bagneux police station where he was still on Monday. Used as an analgesic or in kitchen siphons, nitrous oxide, commonly nicknamed “proto”, is also used for its short psychoactive effects. And this, despite the devastation it causes. It is consumed via balloons or canisters frequently subsequently abandoned on public roads.
