Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Sohibul Fikri ensure Indonesia’s victory over Singapore in Thomas Cup 2022. They beat Danny Bawa Chrisnanta/Jun Liang Andy Kwek 24-22 and 21-14.
When competing at the Impact Arena, Bangkok, Thailand, Sunday (8/5/2022), Bagas/Fikri received fierce resistance from Danny/Andy. The first game lasts up to three settings.
Score draw to 21-21. Two additional points ensured Bagas/Fikri’s struggle to win the first game with a score of 24-22.
Bagas/Fikri can lead far in the second game. At the interval the position is 11-7. Danny/Andy couldn’t keep up with Bagas/Fikri’s game. The 2022 All England champion pair were able to win over Danny/Andy with a final score of 21-14. Danny’s strike which caught the net became the decisive factor for Bagas/Fikri’s victory.
Indonesia lost points in the first single. Anthony Ginting lost to Loh Kean Yew. Two points were obtained when Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto beat Hee Yong Kai Terry/Loh Kean Hean, then Jonatan Christie defeated Jia Heng Jason Teh.
In the last single, Shesar Hiren Rhustavito against Jua We Joel Koh. Vito also has to pick up points, which could be the deciding factor to qualify for the quarterfinals Thomas Cup 2022.
Indonesia and Singapore are in Group A, along with Thailand and South Korea. South Korea and Thailand will only compete at 19.00 WIB.
