Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana failed to become champion Denmark Open 2023. Bagas/Fikri were defeated by Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik in straight sets.
The final round of the Denmark Open men’s doubles brought together Bagas/Fikri vs Chia/Soh. The duel took place at Jyske Bank Arena, Odense, Sunday (22/10/2023) evening WIB.
Bagas/Fikri lost at the start of the first set. The Indonesian representative was 6-11 behind Chia/Soh at the interval.
Chia/Soh continued to grab point after point after the interval and kept the lead from Bagas/Fikri. This Malaysian couple closed the first gym with excellence 21-13.
A fierce duel occurred at the start of the second set until the score was tied at 5-5. Bagas/Fikri then made many mistakes which benefited Chia/Soh. The second interval closed with Chia/Soh leading 11-6.
Bagas/Fikri still made a lot of errors and gave Chia/Soh a five-point lead 14-9 and 16-10. Chia/Soh finally emerged as champions by winning the second set 21-17.
This result ensures that Indonesia will not win a title at the Denmark Open 2023. There are no Indonesian representatives apart from Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana who have entered the final of this BWF super 750 tournament.
