Perfect harmony? Annalena Baerbock and Robert Habeck share a photo together on Instagram – probably as the start of the election campaign.
Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock surprised everyone with a selfie on Instagram. Where she usually posts pictures of her trips abroad and meetings with counterparts, an old acquaintance appeared on Saturday: Together with Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck, she smiled into the camera, her head leaning slightly on his shoulder. In a second photo, Baerbock sits in front of Habeck, who looks mischievously into the camera. “Tour dates 2025 to follow” was written next to the photo, along with a winking emoticon and the hashtag “rollwithit” – an allusion to a song by the band Oasis.
The Britpop band was founded by brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, who then fell out. The band only reunited later. Habeck and Baerbock both applied to be the party’s top candidate in the last federal election campaign, but Habeck won the race. Baerbock has already made it clear that she will not be available for 2025. Nevertheless, she is considered one of the most popular politicians and a draw among Green voters. Apparently she now wants to demonstrate unity with Habeck and prepare for the upcoming federal election campaign.
This is likely to be a particular challenge for the Greens, as they did poorly in the last state elections in the east and in the current Sunday questions they are only at 10 percent (Insa from September 15, 2024). Baerbock’s fans were certainly delighted in the comments: “Thank you for your work and for standing firm, as almost the only people in the government. I would like your patience,” wrote one user on Instagram, “Don’t let it get you down. You are the only ones who still have a vision. Everyone else wants to go back to the 1930s,” wrote another. But critical voices were not lacking either: “After the 2025 election they will be history, thank God,” said one comment. By late Saturday evening, there were 75,000 likes under the post.
