The’Nonamegi World’s Funeral Committee for Chairman Ki-wan Baek’ holds a ceremony at Seoul National University Hospital at 8:00 am, and from 8:30 am, going through the Institute for Unification Issues established by Director Baek and going around the pine road in Daehak-ro. The Ungu procession departs from Daehak-ro at 9:30 am and heads to Seoul Plaza through Ewha Intersection, Jongno 5-ga, Jonggak Station Intersection, and Sejong-ro Intersection. Street gut is held at the intersection of Jonggak Station.
According to the police and the funeral committee, on that day, around 300 people are moving in two lanes. While they are moving, vehicle traffic except for bus lanes will be temporarily suspended. Baek’s funeral procession is not subject to the ban on assembly of 10 or more people to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19). The police explained, “The Act on Assemblies and Demonstrations (Assembly Act) does not apply the existing rules for ceremonial occasions and border events, so the Ungu procession does not correspond to an assembly.”
