BAE Systems appoints Cressida Hogg as president

BAE Systems, the largest aeronautical and defense company in Great Britain, will announce this Thursday that Cressida Hogg, until now at the head of the Landsec real estate group, will replace its current owner, Roger Carr, as president of the group, who will leave the company in the Annual General Meeting next May.

As reported by the Financial Times, the appointment of Cressida Hogg will mean that, for the first time, Britain’s top three aerospace and defense companies (BAE, Babcock International and Rolls-Royce) will be headed by women. The announcement is expected to be made this Thursday, along with the publication of the group’s half-year results. Hogg will join the BAE Board in the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.

Babcock appointed former oil executive Ruth Cairnie as president in 2019, while Rolls-Royce named Anita Frew as president last year. Hogg, who is also on the board of the London Stock Exchange Group, will leave Landsec next year.

Roger Carr joined the BAE Board of Directors in 2013 and took over as chairman the following year, as reported by the London newspaper.
