The Badung Regency Government, Bali is targeting to be free from AIDS by 2027 on the occasion of commemorating World AIDS Day which has the theme “Move with the Community, End AIDS 2030”.
“We will make efforts in Badung not to wait until 2030, the target is for Badung to achieve zero HIV/AIDS by 2027. This target is a challenge and a motivation for us together,” said Deputy Regent of Badung I Ketut Suiasa in Mangupura, Wednesday.
He said that the Badung district government took advantage of this momentum to raise awareness and teach all parties so that together collectively they can make greater efforts to ensure the quality of life of the community by handling HIV/AIDS.
“The issue of HIV/AIDS in Badung is a very difficult challenge in the future. If we can do that well then it will be something very noble. “That’s why we use this momentum to remind each other and come back together to build strength to create a quality society in the future,” he said.
Ketut Suiasa, who is also the Chief Executive of the Badung Regency AIDS Control Commission (KPA), explained that the HIV/AIDS issue is a health issue which will have an impact on aspects of people’s lives in principle.
According to him, this health problem will have an impact on economic, social aspects as well as educational aspects.
For this reason, the government has the duty to fulfill the goals of the state by providing justice to society, realizing prosperity and creating a quality society.
“Let’s stop AIDS, don’t be silent. “Let’s act, move, work and ultimately be useful,” concluded Deputy Regent Ketut Suiasa.
Head of the Badung Health Service, Padma Puspita, revealed that the national theme for World AIDS Day 2023 aims to increase the role of the entire community as the key to preventing and overcoming HIV/AIDS and achieving the target of ending AIDS by 2030.
In the Badung area, the commemoration of World AIDS Day was celebrated with a number of activities including youth creativity competitions, education with the Akar Cinta Kasih Foundation on the topic of stopping stigma and discrimination against HIV/AIDS children and teenagers, network strengthening meetings and a 16-day anti-violence campaign against women and networks. caring for HIV/AIDS with the Maha Boga Marga Foundation.
“Apart from that, there was also an HIV/AIDS Information Festival and a monologue from the Badung Concerned Youth Forum for AKDS and Narcotics, assisted by KPA Badung in collaboration with the Health Service at the Healthy Badung Movement in Abiansemal District,” he said.
