Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Baden-Württemberg’s head of government, Winfried Kretschmann, welcomed Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s (SPD) push for the “Germany Pact”. “More speed in reducing bureaucracy and a clear focus on future investments – these are also the two central tasks for Baden-Württemberg in the coming months,” said the Green politician on Wednesday, as the state ministry announced on request in Stuttgart. “In this respect, it is good and right if all levels pull together and the federal government also clearly commits to these tasks.”

Scholz had previously invited states, municipalities and the opposition, with the exception of the AfD, to participate in a package of measures to speed up approval procedures, digitize administration and support companies. In Berlin, the Chancellor spoke of a national effort.

With a view to the federal government’s decision to relieve the economy, Kretschmann said that the Growth Opportunities Act was a “good start”. He emphasized the investment bonus for climate protection measures, improved depreciation options and tax cuts for investments in research and development.

The basic direction is right, explained Kretschmann. In the longer term, however, further steps are necessary. “The expected tax losses will hurt in many places.” Further financial aid from the federal government is needed, especially when accommodating refugees and implementing municipal heat planning.
