Walker praises the importance of the Black Forest National Park

Baiersbronn (dpa / lsw) – The new Environment Minister Thekla Walker (Greens) visited the Black Forest National Park and the National Park Center in Baiersbronn (Freudenstadt district) for the first time on Thursday. “The national park is of outstanding importance for Baden-Württemberg in many ways,” she said. He is a shining figurehead for the country.
According to a ministry spokesman, the national park area, which previously consisted of two parts, should eventually become a coherent area if possible. “From a technical point of view, the connection of the two partial areas would be a great wish and would be very useful,” he said. It was never kept a secret. “However, the further development of the national park is a comprehensive process that requires the participation and discussion of all relevant stakeholders.”
The total area between the two parts of the national park is said to be around 6000 hectares. Almost 3,000 belonged to the Murgschifferschaft, 1,500 are owned by various municipalities and 1,500 are state forests. The purchase of space is basically conceivable, “but the process is still at the very beginning,” it said.
First of all, the expansion and development of the park on the basis of technical criteria is stipulated in the coalition agreement. “This is an expression of will and an order to the Ministry of the Environment to initiate the process and to involve those involved and affected.” The concrete result of the process is open.
