The forests are already colorful … and only the vineyards. In late summer and autumn, with their blaze of color, they are particularly attractive for a bike tour.

Tour 1: Around the mountain

Licking farm ice cream, feasting on home-baked cakes from the farm café, stopping off at the Besenwirtschaft – and somewhere in between, this tour is also about cycling. On the Heuchelberg circuit we circle the largest vineyards in the south of Baden-Württemberg by bike. It goes comfortably on paved paths. Only now and then does a short piece of gravel near Mühlbach ensure that we subject our suspension forks to a small test. Procedure is not. The tour is signposted throughout with the route sticker “KR1 Heuchelberg-Runde”.

There is something to see on the way:

  • Rathauspark Nordheim
  • Ehmetklinge bathing lake
  • Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park Center
  • Leintalzoo Zoo
  • Half-timbered town of Eppingen with half-timbered museum
  • Theodor Heuss Museum Brackenheim

Recommended parking space: Eppingen train station or travel straight away by train.

Particularities: Can be shortened individually between Eppingen and Leingarten (various S-Bahn stops). Since the tour starts at Eppingen train station, it is possible to travel by train.

Briefly noted: Distance: 58.9 kilometers; Difficulty level: medium, incline: 315 meters, incline: 315 meters, start: Eppingen train station, travel time: four hours.

Tour 2: Always along the river

The blue ribbon that meanders along the vineyards, sometimes gently, sometimes wildly, is our constant companion. the Bike tour always along the river is only interrupted by three short valley changes. The cycle path runs along the Schozach on the route of the former Bottwartalbahn. Vines are the tour signposts in the Deinbachtal. Gravel and asphalt slopes alternate. Racing bikes have to stay at home. The road plaque SB1 shows us where to go.

There is something to see on the way:

  • Talheim: castle and palace, vantage point on the Haigern
  • Flein: Schauweinberg
  • Untergruppenbach: adventure trail, Stettenfels Castle

Recommended parking space: Stettenfelshalle Untergruppenbach

Briefly noted: Distance: 25.2 kilometers, degree of difficulty: easy, incline: 252 meters, incline: 252 meters, circular tour, start: Stettenfelshalle Untergruppenbach, travel time: two and a half hours.

Tour 3: Wine Country River for Families

Tour victory for families! Divided into two stages, even younger cyclists will have enough breath to reach the finish line. The little river tour leads mostly flat on mostly paved paths along the Neckar and its branches. Imposing steep slopes ensure astonished looks, especially among the young, the gentle vineyard slopes are good for the soul. The little cyclists will certainly have fun following the signposts N1 and guiding the adults.

There is something to see on the way:

  • Lauffen am Neckar: work of art “Hölderlin in the roundabout”, Hölderlin room, castle museum on the Neckar island, Roman estate (ruins in the vineyards)
  • Jupiter giant column Hausen
  • Waldensian Museum in Nordhausen
  • Rathauspark Nordheim
  • Liebenstein Castle Neckarwestheim with accessible keep and Renaissance chapel
