Thousands of excited bees caused obstructions on a federal road near Balingen (Baden-Württemberg). According to the police three beehives with a total of 45,000 animals fell from a trailer onto the road at around 6:30 a.m. on Monday morning. The 75-year-old driver, who had loaded 30 beehives, did not notice the mishap and drove on.

Some road users were stung, the police said on Tuesday. A hobby beekeeper with complete equipment finally caught the bees. According to the information, the transporter of the beehives must now expect a complaint about insufficient load securing.
