Baden-Württemberg contributed 84 million euros to the construction costs and the initial equipment of another location of the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT). The two-part location called NCT-SüdWest is to be created in Tübingen and Ulm, according to a statement from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts on Friday.

The NCT already has a location in Heidelberg. This makes Baden-Württemberg the only federal state with two NCT locations. Other locations are in Berlin, Würzburg, Essen and Dresden.

The 6,300 square meter building in Tübingen is to have, among other things, a portal outpatient area and laboratory space for research. The heart of the building will be the “Early Clinical Trials Unit” for clinical studies. In Ulm, an area expansion of 1000 square meters is also planned for the future patient and research building for the NCT SüdWest. The pure construction costs for the NCT in Tübingen are 76.3 million euros. The sub-location Ulm costs 7.3 million euros.
