Stuttgart – In a quality check of the corona protective masks in the state’s inventory, not all models met the requirements. The bodies supplied – such as schools and administration – have already been informed that the affected masks should no longer be distributed and no longer used, as a spokesman for the Ministry of Social Affairs said on Friday evening. In addition, the country will examine claims for damages. It’s about KN95 and FFP2 masks.

Decision already in mid-January

Since it is not possible to clearly define which delivery batches are actually in circulation and which masks within the batches are of inferior quality, the masks supplied by the affected manufacturers in the country are also replaced by suitable models as soon as possible to protect the population.

According to the ministry, the country had all existing stocks of KN95 and FFP2 masks checked due to doubts about the quality. This decision was made in mid-January. The masks from the stocks come partly from federal and partly from state procurements. According to the Dekra, not all of them met the requirements of EN149.
