The state of Baden-Württemberg is spending 600 million euros on the modernization and further development of digital radio for the authorities and organizations with security tasks. Among other things, it is about continuing to operate the BOS digital radio until at least 2030.
Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) said: “With the extensive investments, we acknowledge the importance of reliable operational and radio communication for our emergency services. With the modernizations we have initiated, we will provide them with a secure and future-proof digital radio network for the years to come. ” With the investment in the further development of digital radio, the rescue and emergency services will be able to communicate at the best possible level. “The ongoing operation and ever shorter development cycles of the technology, but also the increasing tasks of our emergency services inevitably require adjustments and modernization of the highly available and encrypted communication network”, the Stuttgart head of department continues.
