Extreme athlete wants to run for a good cause again

Fellbach (dpa / lsw) – Extreme athlete Stefanie Saul wants to collect money and vouchers for a good cause again in a long charity run. Eight years after her project “Run Steffi!” she is planning a 250-kilometer run on the Remstalweg in mid-June for the benefit of cancer patients and stem cell donors, said the 38-year-old woman from Welzheim (Rems-Murr-Kreis) on Saturday. After the start in Fellbach early in the morning of June 17, Saul wants to arrive at the Olgahospital in Stuttgart two days later after 244.2 kilometers of running, 4969 meters of altitude and 55 hours on his feet.

The native Thuringian – Saul comes from Jena – still remembers the route. In 2013 she ran in adverse conditions, snow and freezing cold, but with her team had raised almost 25,000 euros in donations. This year, a first attempt in mid-April failed due to the curfew that had recently been imposed in the region.
