As of: October 27, 2024 1:04 p.m

While running from the police, a 15-year-old crashed Grandma’s car. A second car escaped in Rastatt on Sunday night.

Early on Sunday morning, shortly after 2:30 a.m., a patrol in Rastatt noticed two cars driving side by side on the Friedrichsring. Since the officers suspected a prohibited race, they pursued the vehicles in order to stop them. But they accelerated and drove away. One of the vehicles turned so that the police could only pursue the other, a white Mercedes.

In the event of an accident after fleeing from the police, significant damage is caused

The car didn’t get far. In a slight left bend, the driver lost control of the vehicle, hit a traffic light pole and came to a stop in a garden fence. According to police, the 15-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. Apparently he had stolen his grandmother’s car keys. The material damage is estimated at 50,000 euros.

Witnesses and road users who were at risk are asked to contact the police. The investigation, including into the second vehicle, is ongoing.
